WITHIN THE NON LEAGUE PYRAMID

The Non League Pyramid

The pyramid provides a route for clubs to progress to a higher standard of football.

Step One

The highest league within the pyramid is the Vanarama National League. Two teams from this League are promoted to the Football League. (Champions and Play Off winners a knock out between 2nd to 5th placed teams)

Relegation: The bottom four clubs are relegated into either the National League North or National League South

Step Two

The Vanarama League provides the two divisions at Step 2. Natioal League North and National League South which are on a par with each other. Two teams from each of these Leagues are promoted to the National League (Champions and Play Off Winners a knock out between 2nd to 5th placed teams)

Relegation: The bottom three clubs from each of the step two divisions are relegated to step three leagues.

Step Three

There are three Leagues at step three which are the Evo stik South Premier, Evo stik Premier Division and Ryman Premier Division which are on a par with each other.

Two teams from each are promoted to Vanarama National League North and South, the Champions of each and the play off winners from each, based on a knock out between clubs placed second to fifth in each of the leagues.

Relegation: The bottom four from each division are relegated to step four.

Step Four

Each League at Step 3 provide two divisons at step four.

Evo stik South Division

Evo stik North Division

Evo Stik South One Central

Evo stik South One South West

Ryman Division One North

Ryman Division One South

The Champions and Play off winners in each of these divisions are promoted to their respective League at Step three.

Relegation: The bottom two of each division in the Evo stik League, and bottom three from the two Ryman Leagues are relegated to Step 5.

During the course of a season a number of clubs may fold or fail to meet the criteria to remain at their current level -  (financial, ground grading, etc.) This would result in the number of clubs being relegated being reduced by the same number.

Step 5

There are fourteen Leagues on a par at Step 5, and Hallen play in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, one of the fourteen Leagues.

Subject to the club meeting the criteria to enter the next level, the champions of each of the fourteen leagues gain promotion to step 4. In the event of club not wishing to make a step up, or failing to meet the criteria the second placed club may be promoted and should that team not meet the criteria, then the third team is considered.

Should none of the top three clubs of any of the fourteen leagues not be eligible for promotion, this opens up a vacancy for a League to have more than one team promoted.

Step Six

Each of the fourteen leagues at Step 5 will have at least one division which feeds its top division,or one or two leagues which act as feeder leagues.
